REDUCING CORONAVIRUS RISK (updated 3/15/2020)

I want to publish guidelines about how we can help each other reduce the risk of coronavirus spread while remaining thoughtful that many pilots travel across the country to reach my office.

First, my office is not in a medical clinic or hospital. I share a small building with a few lawyers, a child therapist, and an optical shop. Personally, I am not in a high-risk group and have no known high-risk contacts.

As  a medical professional and an individual who takes the coronavirus risk seriously, I will follow all published guidelines about minimizing your risk, managing my risk, and protecting all our communities.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THE LAST MINUTE?

I do not want to put you, your friends and family, and your neighborhood at risk. If for any reason my building gets closed, or if I am required to self-quarantine, I will do it.

Here are two options if I have to urgently cancel your appointment for my personal health reasons.

#1:  We can reschedule your appointment.

If you were flying on a paid ticket, I will reimburse your airfare and non-refundable hotel expenses for the canceled appointment.

Reimbursements will be subtracted from the balance due after your report is finished. If you have an account credit when expenses are considered, I will pay you by check when your report is finished.

#2:  We can cancel your appointment. I will refund your retainer payment in full, and compensate your paid airfare and paid lodging if you were unable to cancel the flight and reservations. I will need copies of your airfare and hotel receipts.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THE LAST MINUTE?

Please be aware of the advice your health care providers, your local authorities, and the CDC are offering about how to mitigate the risk of COVID-19’s community spread.

If you need to reschedule, cancel, or defer your appointment for any coronavirus-related reason, including your own health, the health of a family member, to care for a child whose school closed, a do-not-travel advisory, or any other pandemic-related struggles, I will waive all policies about late cancellation fees and refunds.

Let’s do the best we can to help each other.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THE LAST MINUTE BECAUSE OF A GOVERNMENT-IMPOSED LOCKDOWN?

If you need to cancel or defer your appointment for a city, state, of federally imposed lockdown, canceling or deferring your appointment will of course be without any late-cancellation fees.

If your appointment is rescheduled and you suffer from the expense of flight and hotel reservations that cannot be changed, I will split the cost of those reservations already paid in the event of a government-imposed lockdown. I will need receipts to process reimbursements, and the reimbursement will be placed as a credit to your account.
